How do SSCC labels with despatch advices work?

24 March 2019

Taking EDI further to supply chain visibility

Retailers are constantly looking for ways to maximise efficiency and increase visibility within their supply chains. EDI has played a major part in optimising processes in the supply chain by connecting organisations directly through their respective software. However, once a retailer raises a purchase order, they often have no ability to plan forward to receive their order. This issue is particularly evident with smaller suppliers. SSCC labels with despatch advice makes this possible.

How does it work?

SSCC labels work in a very simple way and have positive implications for both suppliers and retailers. Let’s take a look at how it works:

Supplier prepares the Despatch Advice with SSCC details. This includes information on the shipment packed. The Supplier labels package with SSCC and sends the despatch advice to the buyer.

Buyer receives the despatch advice into their Warehouse Management System for planning.
